SPE AHCET Hyderabad Student Chapter has successfully conducted its 1st event, i.e.Distinguished Lecture on "Unconventional Energy Resources" on 19th September, 2015 at AHCET Seminar Hall.
The Chief Guest and the Speaker of the said event, Dr. Kalachand Sain, the Senior Principal Scientist of CSIR - NGRI Hyderabad and the Professor of CSIR – Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research, has delivered his lecture on “Potential and Development of Gas Hydrates in India”.
Dr. Sain has about 25 years of research and job experience. At present he is also engaged as Visiting Professor at Osmania University, Andhra University and Rajasthan Technical University. He also worked as Visiting Scientist at Cambridge University, UK. He has published more than 75 research papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals. He has guided three Ph.Ds and presently eight students are doing Ph.D. under his guidance.
Dr. Sain has received many awards like Krishnan Gold Medal (1996) by IGU; Young Scientist Award (1998) by CSIR; Swarnajayanti Project Award (2001) by DST; Best Paper Award (2002) by A.P. Akademi of Sciences; National Mineral Award (2005) by the Ministry of Mines (GoI); Best Poster Award (2007) by Petrotech; Prem Bahadur Memorial Lecture Award (2009) by IGC; N.N. Chatterjee Award (2010) by GSI; A.P. Scientist Award (2011) by A.P. State Council of Science & Technology; Best Paper Award (2012) by the International Association of Gondwana Research (Elsevier) and many more.
Today Dr. Sain mainly focused on problems faced globally for the production of methane from gas hydrates and future scope of work for the petroleum engineers.
